Unsolved Arson

IT’S now a year since the arson attack on the listed North Street Arcade in Belfast. As yet no-one has been charged with this crime that burned out some twenty small businesses. I took part in a picket of the Arcade on the anniversary of the fire. Prominent among the protestors was the legendary Terri Hooley, the former punk impresario whose Cathedral Records perished in the flames.

Terri is now in business again in the nearby Haymarket as Phoenix Records – arisen from the flames of the old arcade. It’s well worth a visit. Look out for the latest CD in stock, Back On Song by the legendary Ronnie Carroll. I heard Ronnie in concert the other night and he can still hold a note! Don’t miss it. I’m sure that Terri will be only too happy to sell you a copy!
